This is ME!
The only things blossoming out of the frigid climate of Rexburg, Idaho, are the artistic stylings of Elaine Asay: student illustrator. Raised across the Midwest, she developed a love for art as early as second grade when she took pride in coloring inside the lines. Her passion grew when her grandfather let her experiment with his Bob Ross art supplies at twelve years old. In high school, a dedicated teacher encouraged her to dive deeper into her artistic talent and consider art as a profession.
Elaine began her formal training at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, studying fine arts. While realism was her foundation, she turned to the illustration program at Brigham Young University in Idaho to stretch her creative range and explore new forms of visual storytelling.
Now as a junior at BYU-I, Elaine continues to refine her artistic voice, gaining new insights through collaboration with peers and her role as a teacher’s assistant. She strives to help viewers interact with the world with greater visual and emotional depth.
“Then will both the observer and the maker gain their sight—to see themselves not merely as creations of The Maker, but as His children—potential makers—each entrusted with a sacred part in His greatest masterpiece.”
